What's the difference? One is exact, the other is an art.

We all love Bob Ross, but how about that hair? I'm guessing most of your curly clients would choose the later!

pre·ci·sion: noun /prēˈsiZH(ə)n/ the quality, condition, or fact of being exact and accurate.

We are taught precision cutting in school where everything is measured and exact. I'm sure you remember your teacher checking your haircuts, right?

or·gan·ic: adjective /ôrˈɡanik/ harmony with nature, and the use of natural materials and forms, aiming to create spaces that feel both authentic and timeless.

While precision is necessary for straight hair, that just doesn't work for curls.

When it comes to haircutting, Curlcraft teaches an organic approach, meaning you are working with the hairs natural movement (harmony with nature and the use of natural materials and forms).

By visually sculpting you create spaces within the haircut that open it up and make it move (harmony in the haircut), making it feel both authentic and timeless

Are you with me? I hope this is making sense.

Precision cutting is putting hair into a box and organic cutting is letting it out. Curls want to be free! They are happier when they move. If you remember the 80's, curly hair back then did not move. It was not organic. It was precision cutting locked in with hairspray. Thankfully, those days are gone!

Clients today are busy. They want to look good but they also want it to be easy. Sculpting their curls will get the there, and by doing so organically, they will have good hair days, day after day.

Your curly client's may not know it yet, but they want you to~

It's not a complicated science, but it is an art. Once your eye is trained, you will see things in a whole new light. Life's short, go after it!

Cheers, and happy sculpting, Jo @Curlcraft
