CURLCRAFT™ is not a haircut. It is a method of visual and intuitive cutting, working with the hairs natural movement to create a customized haircut for every one of your guests. It is not precision haircutting. The great thing is that it can be applied to all curly, wavy and natural textured guests. Curls are not ordinary, so don't treat them that way!
My dry cutting method morphed into CURLCRAFT™ Education which includes washing, styling and finishing techniques as well as at home client education. I decided to include client education in this course because it is often overlooked, and yet it is one of the most important things for our curly guests that we, as hairdressers, have been missing the mark on.
I've been a hairdresser for 30 years, most of which have been spent specializing in curly hair, a few spent being an educator. My cutting philosophy came about 20 years ago, after continually getting haircuts that I just wasn't happy with. I knew my hair, and my intuition also knew what needed to be done to achieve the looks that I wanted. One day I just started chipping away at my own hair; a piece here, a piece there. And this went on for a few years. I didn’t realize it at the time, but what I was actually doing was sculpting and personalizing my haircut, Something I NEVER had experienced before.
This cutting method was initially only intended for me since I was taught precision cutting, and this was anything but. Then one day during a consultation, my client said, “Well I really like you’re your hair.” I told her that my haircut was pretty random and exactly even, and she responded, OK! That was about 20 years ago. Thinking back, that day opened up a whole new world for me and my approach towards curly hair clients. I wish I remembered who that person was so I could thank them…
HERE'S what some clients have said about the Curlcraft™ cutting method.
In this course, I will be coaching you and building your confidence in working with textures, helping you overcome your fears, or elevating your existing skills so you can grow your curly hair clientele. I'll teach you what to look for, explain the how's and whys, and the best approach to take for different situations. I will also be using real life scenarios to address different problems and issues, and give you tons of styling and finishing tips.
I believe this course covers everything you need to know to build your confidence and take any fear out of dealing with curly hair so you can truly deliver to all of your curly, wavy, kinky or barely a bend clients. If your goal is to put some creative spark back into haircutting, then you're in the right place! You'll receive online access to video education and a PDF handbook so you can work at your own pace and go back and watch again if needed. You will also have access to a private Facebook group to help each other grow AND a discount to share with your clients for the Curlcrafting at home© eBook. Because, what good is a great haircut if they don't know what to do with it after leaving the salon? Knowledge is powerful, but it's also very rewarding. To truly understand the struggles of curly hair people and also have the know how to guide them through these struggles is HUGE, and I'm going to give you everything you need to get there and become a master!
Last but not least, since I have partnered with Pivot Point, you will also receive a 20% off discount code for mannequins and other educational tools through my affiliate account!
I chose to work with Pivot Point because of their ethics, both human and environmental; and their sustainable practices which are all in alignment with my brand beliefs. If I’m going to be encouraging educational use of mannequins, they better be coming from a company that gives a shit.
